What OSHA 29 CFR 1910.178(q)(7) actually says
✓ Required
Every powered industrial truck is examined before it is placed in service — at least daily, and after each shift where trucks run around the clock. Defects found are reported and corrected immediately.
✕ Not required
OSHA does not require you to write the examination down. In a May 9, 2000 interpretation letter OSHA said it plainly: the standard requires that the examination be conducted, and there is no OSHA requirement that it be recorded in writing on a checklist.
